Glass, Sergey Brin, and Diane von Furstenberg

As Rupert Murdoch tweeted when he first saw the Google Glasses on the catwalk, “Genius! Sergey Brin showing revolutionary new glasses at DVF, can take photos, receive texts, give directions, and more.”

I want a pair, primarily for the audio visual function.  The ability to go to the zoo with my daughters and not having to carry a video camera or locate my phone quickly, works for me.

I do wonder that every day social wearing of Glass might be a bit unnerving.  If you have ever tried to have a conversation with someone over lunch while they text another person, you get the idea.  What will the social etiquette be for Glass?

Kudos to Google, and the ever gorgeous Diane von Furstenberg for the innovative pairing of tech and fashion introducing Glass to a creative crowd, otherwise in the dark about the potential of Glass.  Google CEO Sergey Brin and Diane von Furstenberg held hands walking the runway at the end of the show, symbolically marking the collaboration between fashion and tech.

Christopher Peterson New Chief Financial Officer Ralph Lauren Corporation

One of my favorite brands, Ralph Lauren Corporation, today announced the appointment of Christopher H. Peterson, 46, as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Peterson will assume his new role effective September 24, 2012, and his areas of responsibility will include the Company’s global finance and information technology organizations. He will report to Roger Farah, President and Chief Operating Officer. A world-class financial executive, Mr. Peterson has 25 years of broad-based financial and operational experience, primarily in the global consumer products industry. Over the last 20 years, Mr. Peterson has held several successively senior corporate and operational roles throughout The Procter & Gamble Company, most recently as Chief Financial Officer of its Global Household Care division. In that capacity, Mr. Peterson was responsible for the strategic planning and financial management of a group of businesses with combined annual revenues of approximately $45 billion. Mr. Peterson began his career in Smith Barney’s investment banking division and he has a Bachelor of Science degree in Operations Research & Industrial Engineering from Cornell University.

Calvin Klein Honored at 2012 ACE Awards Gala

Calvin Klein, Inc. announced today that Calvin Klein Collection will be honored at the 15^th annual Accessories Council Excellence (ACE) Awards Gala on Monday, November 5^th, at Cipriani 42^ndStreet in New York City. The ACE Awards highlight individuals and brands that have made a significant contribution to the accessories industry. This year, Calvin Klein Collection’s Francisco Costa (Women’s Creative Director), Italo Zucchelli (Men’s Creative Director) and Ulrich Grimm (Men’s & Women’s Shoes & Accessories Creative Director) will receive the Designer of the Year Award. Calvin Klein Collection is known around the world for its modern, sophisticated and timeless designs. The brand’s women’s and men’s ready-to-wear collections, designed by Mr. Costa and Mr. Zucchelli respectively, set the tone and direction for the overall brand and its complementing shoes and accessories, overseen by Mr. Grimm. This marks the first time the Designer of the Year Award will be presented to three designers from one brand.

Other honorees announced thus far for the 2012 ACE Awards Gala include Constance White (Mary Lou Luther Award for Fashion Journalism), Theodora & Callum (Brand Launch), C. Wonder (Speciality Retailer), Stella + Dot (Retail Innovation) and Vince Camuto (Visionary Award).

Fashion Week 2009

Our Daughters modeled at Fashion week; Marlana was flicking all the 'celebrity front row legs' with her feather like a kid with a stick and a corrugated iron fence.... No one seemed to mind... they all seemed to 'know' who she was..... Marlana the marketing expert...!  She's current 'writing' the book on connecting....

I did a full day fashion shoot at a beach resort yesterday for an international girls fashion label.... The designer/founder Trelise Cooper 'wanted' a frozen embryo of Marlana....My girls have never been print models before and might never be again..however..they were brilliant..really!

As soon a we arrived Sienna, a mini Claudia Schiffer, was sick all over the floor..from car sickness we think...I could write volumes about the day......sorry its 2 in the morning..I'm on London time at the moment!
